What Makes Me Saddest? I see many things in this world that make me sad. I am sure you do too. War, death, famine, poverty, unemployment, and more. the list goes on and on. I am sure that if we opened this up as forum discussion elsewhere on this website, the list would go on for pages. Why is there so much that makes us sad? The simple answer is sin? Sin always leads to division, separation, and sadness. What is it that makes me saddest? What makes me saddest is people suffering because of choices they make that are completely and wholely against God's will and God's commands. Families break up when one or both spouses choose not to submit to each other and be selfish. People lose jobs, friends, family, even lives by choosing to abuse drugs and alcohol. Crime is always a choice. I could go on for pages, but, for your relief, I won't. I believe firmly that over 80% of the suffering and sadness in your life and mine would disappear completely if we simply lived God's way. We will always be affected negatively by the sin and choices of others, but over 80% of our problems are caused by our own choices and sins. God's basic command is summed up in what is called the Great Commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. All other commandments and statutes of God are included in these two commands. I want to invite you to come see what Jesus meant by love. Throughout the month of June, we will be exploring what real love is and how we show real love in the world. Click here to e-mail Pastor Todd or respond to this article. †
